Looking Through The Eyes Of A Child

Have you noticed that a child’s eyes is brighter, clearer, vibrant and full of life? And then you look at an old person’s eyes and it’s tired, lack lustre even jaded. Apart from it being the normal aging process, I often wondered if it had anything to do with one’s experiences in life. I mean does it happen from seeing and experiencing all the pain, hardships and suffering in life? Or even just having our eyes exposed to the attrocities or immoral behavior of men? Because when you look at the huge contrast between the two and see the innocence in a child’s eyes you cannot help but feel that there is a correlation.

With this in mind, I have been inspired to look at life through the eyes of a child ever so often. To open my eyes in awe to the wonders that life has to offer and if possible with a childlike innocence. Tall order considering I am as tarnished as they come….hee hee

Try it and you will see just how liberating it is, in fact it brings you a joy not quite like any other. How do you go about it? Well this works for me……first you close your eyes, take a deep breath and clear your mind. Then you tell your inner self that you are ready to experience the sights, sounds and smell of your surroundings then slowly open your eyes. You are now ready to enjoy and soak in the experiences as you make your way to work or where ever it is your destination is.

It can be from noticing the butterfly as it flutters above the ixora flowers along the pathway. Or watching a baby smile at it’s mother on board the train. It can also be watching the tiny steam that rises from a hot cup of coffee with the aroma permeating the air. Even the various shapes of the clouds in the sky. Each day is different and filled with adventure and discovery. Now that in itself is living life with a passion.
