DVD Weekend Playlist

  • Black Snake Moan – Starring: Samuel L Jackson, Christina Ricci, Justin Timberlake Plot Outline -A God-fearing bluesman (Jackson) takes to a wild young woman (Ricci) who, as a victim of childhood sexual abuse, looks everywhere for love, never quite finding it. Well it takes a while to get what the movie is about as well as accustomed to the southern drawl and Jazzy Blues but still a good movie. Samuel and Christina does a great job with their flawed characters.
  • The Number 23 – Starring: Jim Carrey, Virginia Madsen, Logan Lerman, Danny Huston. Plot Outline -Walter Sparrow becomes obsessed with a novel that he believes was written about him. As his obsession increases, more and more similarities seem to arise. In the beginning of the movie I felt that Jim should have stucked to his roles as a comedian, but as the film progressed both he and Virginia should be credited for their strong performances. This movie in my opinion is not a great film but a good one to watch because of the storyline.
  • High School Musical – Starring: Zac Efron, Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel,Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman. Plot Outline – Troy and Gabriella – two teens who are worlds apart – meet at a karaoke contest and discover their mutual love for music. Okay so I may be one of the remaining few who actually caught it, besides I wanted to see what all the rave was about. I must say I enjoyed immensely! The starting of the movie reminded me a lot of Grease albeit a much younger cast. A definite must watch for all you musical fans! I am now a fan of this uprising and versatile young actor Zac Efron, I remembered him from the movie Miracle Run in which he played one of two autistic brothers.
  • Wild Hogs – Starring: John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence,William H.Macy, Ray Liotta, Marissa Tomei. Plot Outline -A group of suburban biker wannabes looking for adventure hit the open road, but get more than they bargained for when they encounter a New Mexico gang called the Del Fuegos. I’ve already watched it at the movies, but I just had to watch it again! This movie appeals to me on so many levels…hee hee I’m seriously considering buying it!
  • Red Riding Hood (2004) – Starring: Lainie Kazan, Morgan Thomson,Joey Fatone,Sam Stone, Daniel Roebuck. Plot Outline – A classic tale with some modern magic! Sheesh! It’s definitely a movie for 4-6year olds. The Virtual Sets looked okay but the script?! Yikes! This is one movie which the adults would rather just hit play and do housework!
  • Open Season (Animated Cartoon Movie) – Voices Of: Martin Lawrence,Ashton Kutcher,Gary Sinise,Debra Messing,Billy Connolly and more . Plot Outline – Boog, a domesticated 900lb. Grizzly bear finds himself stranded in the woods 3 days before Open Season. Forced to rely on Elliot, a fast-talking mule deer, the two form an unlikely friendship and must quickly rally other forest animals if they are to form a rag-tag army against the hunters. Kids Love it! Me Too! ha ha
  • Pathfinder  (Extended Version) – Starring: Karl Urban, Moon Bloodgood,Russell Means,Clancy Brown. Plot Outline -A Viking boy is left behind after his clan battles a Native American tribe. Raised within the tribe, he ultimately becomes their savior in a fight against the Norsemen.  This movie is like a few others mixed together, 13th Warrior, Dances with Wolves and Apocalypto.  It is full of gore and very little dialog, less in English.  Storyline is okay, but I must say I expected a whole lot more in terms of screenplay and cinematography!
