DIY Face Mask

Did you honestly think that only over the counter masks with hefty price tags work? Guess again mate! Here are some DIY masks you can do at home which works just as effectively.  Didn’t realise it myself till I tried one.  Oh and if you’re wondering….I got this off a magazine….*grins*

OILY SKIN – Banana Mask


1 ripe banana
1 tbsp honey
An orange or lemon


1. Mix the banana and honey together.
2. Add a few drops of juice from the orange or a lemon
3. Apply to face for 15 mins before rinsing with a cool washcloth or a steaming warm washcloth.

The enzymes in bananas will help to soothe your skin.

DRY SKIN – Avocado Mask


1/2 avocado
1/4 cup honey


1. Mash avocado in a bowl, then stir in the honey
2. Apply to skin and leave for 10 mins,
3. Rinse face with a cool washcloth

Avocadoes and honey are known for their moisturising properties.

PROBLEM SKIN – i)Papaya Mask


Ripe Papaya


1. Remove seeds and skin. Mash papaya
2. Rub pulp gently on the face
3. Apply once every two to three days

This simple to prepare mask can help to clear impurities that cause pimples, blackheads and spots.

ii)Potato Mask


Peeled Potato


1.Grate potato
2.Apply grated potato on skin.
3. Apply this mask once a week to find clean clear skin over the long term.

The application of grated potato poultice may help to treat skin blemishes,wrinkles,boils,pimples,acne and blackheads.



1 orange
1 lemon
1 cucumber


1.Grind ingredients in a mixer.
2.Apply the mixture on your face and wash off after 20mins.
3.Use daily for seven days and see a marked improvement on your skin.

Fruits are rich in vitamins and minerals. They are effective antioxidants and may be used both internally and externally.



1 Apple
1 tsp honey


1.Peel and core apple
2.Mash it well and blend with honey
3.Apply this mixture on face and neck in slow and upwards motion.
4.Wash off with warm water after 15 minutes
5.Try this thrice a week and then once a week to see your wrinkles fade away.

Smoothen wrinkles and moisturize skin the natural way!

*Tips* Ensure your hands,food and items are thoroughly cleansed before use. If your skin develops an allergic reaction, stop and rinse away mask immediately. Results may vary.
