Squeeze My Chest Harder Why Don’t You!

$6.80 A Tablet! that is US$4.75 just to swallow one pill! Ahhhhhhhhh! Unbelievable……

It all began after recovering from my knee injury…..what started out as a mild throat infection slowly led to a chest congestion.  I paid a visit to the doctor and was given some anti-inflammatory medication, lozenges and salbutamol tablets.

Seretide Accuhaler

After a few days as the chest congestion did not improve, I was given a course of antibiotics and a Seretide Accuhaler.  A week later, there was a slight improvement but slightly more only after I purchased Fluimucil A600 from the pharmacy and took it myself in the evenings.

Today I went back to the doctor for a review and she decided to start me on a 10 day course of singulair to see if it worked for me after which I should take it for six weeks! These are the tablets which cost the whopping amount I started to rant about! They better work I tell ya! Anyhow…….feeling a little tired out now……….zzzzzzzzzzz

Singulair 10mg tabs

Update 25 Sep 08 * Sheesh! I was so perturbed with the amount that I forgot to mention that the pharmacy I had bought the singulair did not have the 10mg tabs so I actually ended up buying the 5mg ones hence 20tabs for a 10 day course.  I then divided the cost of one tab of 10mg accordingly.  That was an error on my part because today I learnt that there is no price difference between the 10mg one or the 5mg one per tab! Hence I would have saved a whole lot of money were the 10mg ones available! *gasp*

So in conclusion if you are ever prescribed 5mg, then it makes better sense to purchase the 10 mg ones instead and get yourself a pill cutter as this would save you heaps!

  1. Please do some research on singulair. Go to website medications.com and search side effects for singulair. My son will never get back five years of his life. That stuff made him angry, anxious, depressed, suicidal, adhd symptoms, leg cramps, stomache aches, and horribly gruesome nightmares. He was afraid to sleep alone and was really scary when he got upset. This all stopped after he stopped singulair. Please read up and maybe find something else.

  2. Hi Laura,

sorry to hear of the nightmare you went through with using singulair. I did read up on the side effects and thankfully I personally did not encounter any…in fact it seems to be working for me.

Also my son was introduced to it approx a year back, he was given half a tab only and it seemed to work for him without incident. We stopped using it when he got better though because it was just too expensive to continue when he had totally recovered.

Thanks once again for sharing….as this will definitely help those considering the medication for their kids, to make an informed decision.

  3. Take care huh. Rest more.

  4. Awww that’s so sweet of ya….thanks and I will….*hugs*

  5. For all you singulair users in Singapore….read the important update on this post!
