One Night At The Mutiara JB

Just after crossing the Causeway into JB on Saturday at about 12:50pm, Frances and I were feeling a little peckish, so we decided to make our way to the Bak Kut Teh store approx. 40metres shy of City Square.  The kids didn’t want to eat there so we promised them Mckers later.  They were however badly in need of using the toilet and were thrilled to find an unusual broken down room used as a toilet.  It had a chopstick for a door latch and drainage hole to pee in, and a large container of water with a pail for a flushing system!

Anyhow after Frances and I had eaten our lunch we went to Mcdonalds at City Square for the kids.  Twenty minutes later it was time for a little shopping before taking a cab to Mutiara Hotel in JB to check-in.  *Note* Cab fare from City Square was Rm7.00

After Check-in we relaxed in our very spacious and clean room for about half an hour before heading on to Jusco Aeon Tebrau City for Tea (cab fare Rm15).  We had some wonderful cakes at ‘Secret Recipe’ before moving on to do a little shopping. Then it was back to the hotel for some swimming followed by Dinner at ‘Wong Kok Char Chang Teng’ a minute walk from the Hotel.  Food was reasonable priced and great tasting! Apparently they have a branch at Bugis Shopping Centre in Singapore.

The next morning I went to the gym before meeting the gang for a very nice buffett breaksfast spread at the Hotel.  Then it was a little shopping at the Holiday Plaza which is just beside the hotel, lunch then a cab from the hotel back to City Square ( Rm8) to head back home.  Problem is it started raining heavily, so we decided to have some more cakes at ‘Secret Recipe’ before heading back to the Checkpoint on-route for home.

Overall it was great break for all of us!
