Today marks the end of the Chinese Lunar New Year Celebrations, and it is fortunate that majority of us managed to meet up on Saturday i.e. two days before. I always look forward to meeting up with this bunch as we have known each other now for 25 years! It is also remarkable to see just how well we have aged, oh well at least I’d like to think so.
One of the ladies who married young has a son, the eldest of three who is seventeen years old! That was the age or rather one year after, that we went our separate ways to further our studies or face life head on! Gees!
Well I’d suppose we all can look forward to life ahead as we start anew, afterall doesn’t the saying go “Life Begins At Forty”? or is it the beginning of the end? *Shakes head vehemently* Cup half FULL mate!! Oh brother! I’m starting to talk to myself….or is it typing to myself?? Yikes! let’s get straight to the photos! 😆
There was lots of fun and laughter throughout the evening, but there was this particular joke or rather a prank/incident which was related by one of the guys (schoolmate in-law? I mean the husband of a schoolmate…hey wait a minute he was also a senior in the same school, so senior schoolmate!).
Nope the stuff in the brackets was not the joke, anyhow he (Don) was relating how early that morning he got a call from someone who dialled the wrong number. When he answered the phone the caller, a lady upon hearing his voice started ranting ,”Ah Huat ah! It’s been so long since we’ve seen you!” “Tried to call you so many times but you’re always not in, also never received a return call from you!” “Hear you’re coming over today is it?”
Finally Don had a chance to speak, so he simply said ,”Ah yah sorry, sorry today Yes, yes….I will bring over two cans of Abalone especially for you ok?” The lady in a now cheerful yet bashful voice then said, “No need lah Ah Huat…just your presence will be enough.” Don then replied, “No must! Must…I will bring it specially for you, see you later ok? Gotta go now…rushing off somewhere.” Lady, “Ok see you then…” then she hangs up the phone.
Hmmm you know what? The joke sounds way better in Hokkien!….*grins*
