Movie: Clash Of The Titans 2010

Starring: Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton
Director: Louis Leterrier

Let’s me review this movie as I always have in plain simple English.  This movie left me wanting! My kids enjoyed it obviously for the polished over the top CGI mythical creatures but they too felt that the original 1981 version was scarier!  So doesn’t that say quite a fair bit?

Star studded it may be but rather jaded in my opinion, when such a talented casts is presented with a lacklustre script. And yes we all know that Perseus is different from humans in that he is a demigod, but does he really need to be so different that he speaks with a thick Australian accent? Couldn’t he (Sam) lose it like most of his fellow countrymen when they starred in leading roles in other Hollywood movies?  What about the Black Pegasus? I am fine with him being black, but why show the rest of this white brethren?  What is that suppose to convey? He is different from the rest? Duh! Brother of a different Mother? Ha ha!

Also WHY have a script at all? When you can have large scaled CGI creatures fill in the gaps at almost every turn! Was there a need for it to be in 3D?  *Sighs*  Thank goodness for the lovely Gemma Arterton and Alexa Davalos, these beauties did brighten up the otherwise dull sets.

*Takes a deep breath* Okay not all of it was negative, here are some of things I did like….

  • The grandeur of Mount Olympus
  • Some of the fight scenes
  • The lovely ladies mentioned above
  • Medusa, not as scary looking as the original but nicely done all the same

Yes there is much entertainment value, just don’t go watching it with high expectations!
