Movie – Taken

Starring: Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen, Xander Berkeley, Leland Orser, Jon Gries, David Warshofsky, Katie Cassidy, Holly Valance, Nathan Rippy

Director: Pierre Morel

Synopsis: A retired spy is compelled to use his ‘skills’ when his teenage daughter is kidnapped.

I absolutely loved this movie! And it was great to see one of my favourite actors ever since ‘Rob Roy’ Liam Neeson in action.  And frankly a lesser actor would never have been able to pull off this heavy impact, complex thriller. Also I was thrilled that the ‘adventure’ was set in Paris with an International casts.

The build up in the story is well worth the wait when you get to see the explosive action sequences that follow.  This movie has NOTHING to do about choices one makes in moral dilemmas but rather that a father would stop at NOTHING to save his beloved daughter!

This is definitely a keeper! So I can hardly wait for the DVD to be released….

Hit A Plateau In My Weight Loss Challenge..

I have been at a constant weight for the past two and half weeks now and I reckon it’s due to overtraining and perhaps even eating less calories.  It cannot be because I have been doing the same workouts over and over because I vary the exercise program from day to day.

Anyhow I’ve just c0me across a “Cheat Your Way Thin” or is it “Cheat By Eating Fat Foods Sometimes” method? Anyhow there is some sort of big launch by Joel Marion and I’ll bet his new marketing strategy will cost newbies between USD50 – USD100 however it is very unlikely I’d sign up for it.

Not because I don’t believe in it but because I more or less know how to go about it.  In fact in my basic attempt to prove/disprove his theory, I managed to lose 1kg! in one week so  I’d expect to see clearer results in a month.

Till then….

R Rated Jokes For A Monday Morning…

A Woman was admitted to a Hospital after having phone sex.  Doctors removed two Nokias, three Motorolas and a Samsung, but no Siemen was found!
—–

A man approached a beautiful blonde at a bar. “I’d like to call you,” he said. “What’s your number?”
“It’s in the phonebook,” she answered.
“But I don’t know your name?” he said.
She replied, “That’s in the phonebook too.”
——

A man seemed upset, so his co-worker asked, “What’s the matter?”
“My 10 year old son made my secretary pregnant!” the man said.
“Impossible,” the co-worker remarked.
“It’s true,” the man said. “He puctured all my condoms.”

Huddle Presentation

It was my turn to lead the huddle and so had to prepare some material for it and also plan for an energizer.  So I decided to talk about what it takes to be a service ambassador. And for the second bit I decided to share some tips on how we should stand when we are receiving guests/customers and guide them on the way to do a proper handshake.

Planning For The June Holidays….

Club Med For A Short Holiday?

Well I was thinking of going with the family during the June holidays because it came highly recommended by my supervisor and friend.  Practically everything is already neatly packaged so you one doesn’t have to worry about any other miscellaneous items that you would normally worry about on a trip.

They have separate programs for the kids which includes looking after them for the duration the parents decides on and programs for adults as well should they so choose.

Well it certainly is a dream vacation which I currently cannot afford or rather do not want to at this time.  Perhaps if I come across a tiny windfall or a nice juicy bonus which of course is no where near in sight! *grins*

Why? Well for just a 2 night stay in Club med Bintan, it would cost me SGD$1924.00!  In fact if I were to book a whole suite in a hotel for us in KL for 3 nights together with the coach and even entrance fees to some theme parks it would only cost me approx SGD$1000 so guess I’ll be doing the latter. Besides we get to do some shopping too!

Country Song – No Charge By Melba Montgomery

This is old country song is certainly a classic which brought tears to my eyes..!

No Charge Lyrics

My little boy came into the kitchen this evenin’ while I was fixin’ supper,
And he handed me a piece of paper he’d been writin’ on.
And after wipin’ my hands on my apron I read it,
And this is what it said:
For mowin’ the yard: five dollars;
And for makin’ my own bed this week:- one dollar;
An’ goin’ to the store: fifty cents;
An’ watchin’ little brother while you went shoppin’: twenty-five cents;
For takin’ out the trash: one dollar;
Gettin’ a good report card: five dollars;
And rakin’ the yard: two dollars;
Total owed: fourteen seventy-five.

Well, I stood there lookin’ at him expectantly,
And a thousand mem’ries flashed through my mind.
So I picked up the pen, an’, turnin’ the paper over,
This is what I wrote:

For the nine months I carried you,
Growin’ inside me: no charge;
For the nights I’ve sat up with you,
Doctored you, prayed for you: no charge;
For the time and the tears,
And the cost through the years, there’s no charge;
When you add it all up,
The full cost of my love is no charge.

For the nights filled with dread,
And the worry ahead: no charge;
For advice and the knowledge
And the cost of your college: no charge;
For the toys, food and clothes and for wipin’ your nose,
There’s no charge, son
When you add it all up,
The full cost of my love, is: no charge.

Well, when he finished readin’ he had great big ol’ tears in his eyes,
And he looked up at me and he said, ‘Mama, I sure do love you.’
Then he took the pen, and in great big letters.
He wrote: ‘PAID IN FULL.’

When you add it all up,
The cost of real love is: no charge.

Fun Maze At Safra Toa Payoh

Brought them once again to the fun maze at Safra Toa Payoh where they enjoyed themselves just as much as they did at the one at Explorer Kids Downtown East.  Price difference a whopping $13.50 both at member rates!  EK’s rates are $11 per kid while ST’s rates are $4.50 Oh and I love the fact that they ST makes the kids wash their hands first,  checks them for HMFD then puts a little hand sanitizer on their hands to rub in before allowing them through.  EK doesn’t do a thing….

Anyhow had lunch at Crystal Jade Toa Payoh and we didn’t really order that much but the bill still came up to $78. Oh well it was an Easter Celebration.  No food pics….

The maze is much bigger from the side but Parents are allowed in..

Routinely Break A Routine

You might have heard, that to constantly grow and expand your horizons one must move out of one’s comfort zone.  In fact it is far from easy for those who are so very comfortable with their daily routines, that they adopt a ‘If it ain’t broke why fix it?” attitude.

Here’s the thing…..If you want to lead a much fuller life then you’ll have to break your routine every once in a while.  It doesn’t have to start with huge ‘insurmountable’ tasks!  Key is to start with the little things, and in time you can move on to bigger ones.

Here are some little examples :-

  • Instead of ordering your daily cuppa coffee why not try tea or hot chocolate?
  • Instead of watching TV, why not go for a brisk walk?
  • Instead of computer games, why not read a book?
  • Instead of eating bread and eggs every morning, why not try noodles?
  • Instead of frowning every morning as you make your way to work, why not try smiling?
  • Instead of rushing to work every morning, why not wake an hour earlier?
  • Instead of driving, why not take public transportation? ( Very hard as you can imagine for some )
  • Instead of finding faults, why not look or offer solutions?
  • Instead of screaming at the kids, why not try reasoning with them?
  • Instead of jogging, why not swim?

Of course there are certain things that you cannot or rather should not break in your routine like brushing your teeth or being punctual for work.  But with a little imagination and resolve, I am sure you can come up with your own little lists of stuff that you can and be better for…doing it!
